Thomas Cornett and his high school InvenTeam from Greenbrier East High School in Greenbrier, West Virginia, responded to the disastrous historic flooding that damaged more than 1,200 homes, with a dozen fatalities including two students from their high school. Their invention responded to the problem of disaster recovery, in particular finding a way for disaster victims to quickly build shelter. The resulting product: bricks made from cardboard.
