Lemelson-MIT Student Prize winners Jason Kang, Katherine Jin, and Kevin Tyan came together as undergraduates in their senior year at Columbia University to form their startup, Kinnos Inc., with the shared desire to work on an invention that makes a significant societal impact. They discovered that it took trial and error, faith, and perservance to keep them on track to achieve their goal to deliver a way to combat the spread of disease by developing a product that could signal the user that surface decontamination had been achieved.
